How to Apply

Eligibility

To qualify for a scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a child, grandchild, or ward of a current Wyoming Water Association member;
  • Be a Wyoming high school senior, a Wyoming high school graduate, or a student currently enrolled in a Wyoming college or vocational school; and
  • Not have received a Wyoming Water Association scholarship in the preceding year. A recipient may apply for a second scholarship in non-consecutive years, but no student may be awarded more than two total scholarships.

Evaluation

The Wyoming Water Association Scholarship Committee evaluates applications and awards scholarships according to the following process:

  • Scholarship Committee members and essay reviewers rank each applicant’s educational achievements, non-academic activities, and essay.
  • Educational achievements account for 15% of the scoring, non-academic activities account for 25% of the scoring, and the essay accounts for 60% of the scoring.
  • The Scholarship Committee selects recipients by majority vote.

Recipients

To maintain their eligibility, Wyoming Water Association scholarship recipients must:

  • Accept their scholarship and read their essay at the Wyoming Water Association’s annual meeting banquet in October. Students who cannot attend in person may attend by video;
  • Attend a college or vocational school during the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded. Recipients may attend an in-state or out-of-state institution; and
  • Submit proof of enrollment to the Wyoming Water Association Treasurer by September 30. Students may submit a completed coursework registration form, a receipt for registration fees, or other verification of enrollment issued by a college or vocational school.
