About
Mission & Vision
The Wyoming Water Association is dedicated to promoting the development, use, and management of Wyoming’s water resources for the benefit of current and future generations.
We serve as a statewide forum where diverse water users can exchange ideas, collaborate on challenges, and advocate for sustainable water policies.
Our vision is a Wyoming where all citizens and water users have access to reliable information, sound management practices, and a unified voice in water-related issues.
History
Founded in 1933, the Wyoming Water Association has served as a trusted resource for more than eight decades. Our organization began as a coalition of water users seeking a coordinated approach to managing the state’s vital and limited water supplies.
Over the years, the Association has evolved to include municipalities, agriculture, industry, conservation groups, educators, and private citizens — all united by a shared interest in Wyoming’s water future.
Learn about the history of the Association in the 70th Anniversary Commemorative Program from the 2003 Annual Meeting.

Perry W. Jenkins, WWA’s First President, was President of the Wyoming Senate in 1927. Jenkins introduced the legislative bill to form Sublette County in 1921, proposing that it be organized around the Green River’s watershed. He helped represent Wyoming in negotiating the 1922 Colorado River Compact.
